Christmas Laughs

During this Christmas week I laughed many times while prepping for Christmas dinners, wrapping gifts, unwrapping gifts and enjoying the time spent with family and friends.   I would like to share the moments that really made me laugh this week...
  • ugly Christmas sweaters - my mom works at the local high school (where I went) and a bunch of teachers decided to wear ugly sweaters on the half day because its basically a party all day so why not have some fun.  Well my family and I have the ugliest Christmas sweater that we have all worn once to a party.  It is sad though because it was my nana's holiday sweater, but only a nana could get away with wearing a sweater this tacky.  Anyways... my mom emailed me on that day (Thursday) saying so far she had not seen anyone else wearing an ugly sweater.  Reading that email made me burst into laughter at my cube, what I would give to run over to the school to see my mom in her tacky ugly Christmas ornament sweater and everyone else in regular clothes - guess the joke was on her?!
  • my sister's reaction when she opened my Christmas gift.  I got my sister the best Christmas gift this year!  Here is some background information... my sister, Ali, collects wine glasses.  Whenever I visit a new place, I always look for a glass for her to buy.  Well while searching my new obsession, Etsy.com, I came across a shop ,Crystal Peace Studio, where the artist makes caricatures on wine glasses.  I literally died laughing when I found this.  I just had to get this for Ali; so I sent a picture of my sister to the artist and she created a personal wine glass for my sister.  My sister has the best laugh, I wish I could share that with you; she opened my gift and her loud laugh filled our Christmas morning and was contagious and my whole family was in laughter from Ali's laugh and my gift.

I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday and that you all shared just as much laughter as my family did!  I'd love to hear all about your holiday laughs!!

the glued christmas house

This past Tuesday night, Schmate, Lia and I planned to make a gingerbread house. Schmate and Lia bought the package while shopping. But by accident they bought the wrong kit and it was not a sincere gingerbread house; it was actually a kit to make gingerbread house from scratch out of chocolate molds. It was an excellent mistake! We had so much fun and it was really easy to do. Obviously as we made and decorated the house we laughed a lot. Chocolate dries fairly fast in comparison to icing that we are used to making houses with, so you needed to act fast. Lia started calling the white chocolate "glue" and was demanding it quickly to make her white wreaths with sprinkles. It was pretty hysterical. Here are pictures from the night...

the house by the treeeeeee.....
Finally, after the master piece was complete, Lia decided to make a Christmas scene with the house, a tree and Santa claus. This made Schmate and I laugh pretty hard and quote one of our ALL TIME FAVORITE you tube videos, "The Christmas Tree".  This is the funniest you tube video EVER.

I hope you enjoyed this video as much as my friends and I do and you enjoy your Christmas Tree as much as we do!
Hope you ALL have a very Merry Christmas, from my glued house to yours.

weekly laughs

Here is a list of things that REALLY made me laugh this week...
  • car rides with my family; this past Sunday, my family & I went to visit my Great Aunt at her convent (she is a nun).  Car rides with my sister and parents are always hysterical.  We started the ride mad at one another; I said something bratty & my sister was late.  But as we started driving in the family mini-van, my sister was in the way back and went flying because the back seat was not in the car properly.  This was probably extremely dangerous, but we all bursted into laughter and totally eased the mood.
mi familia (minus my BEAUTIFUL nephew) at my cousins wedding

  • gchat conversations with Brittany (aka snap); Snap is a pledge sister of mine from my sorority and while we are both at work we take breaks and "gchat" together.  Our conversations are quite comical and brighten up my work days.  Our recent conversations have been about if she should leave the blackberry world to join the droid world.  It is pretty funny and sad that this decision is a HUGE decision for many people.  I am ALL about my berry, Jorge, and would never want to leave the blackberry world.  I think she is crazy.  What do YOU think she should do?
Jorge, my first blackberry :)
  • my father; I have the funnest father in the world, I definitely get my sense of humor from him.  Not a day goes by that he does not make me laugh.
me, my dad & sister - see he makes me laugh just by his facial expressions
I hope my laughs made you laugh!  Hope you had a great week!  What made you laugh this week?

the broken down choo-choo train

My best friend, Kate (who I call Schmate) and I like to do arts & crafts together.  We are so childish.  I don't want to brag, but we are pretty good at it.  This past Sunday, Schmate came over to make a gingerbread choo-choo train with me.  It was a lot of fun, whenever we do crafts it ends up in laughter as we talk and do our busy work.  But this train assembly was quite funny in that we could not get the train to stay in position for longer than 5 minutes; it just always fell apart.  But we did an awesome job, or so I think.  Here are pictures before and after.

the finished train

the broken down train :(
It was hysterical trying to maneuver a way to get the train to stand alone, we tried extra extra icing, Hershey kisses, toothpicks, holding for 5 minutes and letting go.  Nothing worked, so we gave up and decided to eat the train, but even that was funny.  These gingerbread kits do not provide you with good tasting materials or even quality candies, so we could not even enjoy the taste.  But it was a great day spent with a great friend!

Have you laughed today?

I think it is super important to laugh everyday.  I know I am no doctor, but I think it is unhealthy if you do not laugh at least once a day.  Like the old saying, "an apple a day, keeps the doctor away," well I think "a laugh a day, keeps the doctor away."

It is a goal of mine to laugh everyday and make the people I am surrounded by to laugh at least once when I am with them.

I am going to start to track these laughs and share my findings every Sunday of the previous week.

I'd love to hear what made you laugh this week or how you made someone laugh.

Thankful Laughs

I am pretty sure every family does on Thanksgiving, but before anyone in my family can even eat a crumb of anything off the table we all go around the table and say what we are thankful for.  I have a huge, loud, Italian family; so this is a task in itself.  Most of the adults say they are thankful for our family, one of my uncles will say something sarcastic or stupid, one of my cousins will say beer or their cell phone and then my Pop-Pop will definitely say our family and usually makes us all cry.  It is a great moment and I am truly lucky to have this.  Yet we all cry together, the second we are all done saying what we are thankful for.  For that moment, it is probably the only time my family can be serious and then soon after laughter will begin while my dad tells one of his funny jokes or my Pop-Pop says something hysterical.
With Thanksgiving only four days away, I want to think of something clever to say this year as what I am thankful for.  Even though, I am thankful for my family and friends … that is too cliché and too typical in my family.
I am thankful for laughter.  I am thankful for the laughter that comes with my family and friends.  Because those are the 3 most important things to me in my life: family, friends and laughter.
What are you thankful for?

Things that are really funny...

Foot Wars.  I don't know if this is a made up game or if my sister, Ali, and I are just insane.  But when we were younger, we used to have foot wars.  Here is how you play.  It is a 2 player game, you lay on the couch and bend your legs enough to meet your feet in the middle.  The object of this game is to straighten your legs and make the opponents legs bent.  It is really hard and stupid, we usually just end up moving the couch.  I do not think anyone has actually ever won this game now that I think about it.  But Ali and I played this Wednesday night for the first time in what seemed years.  After playing for several minutes, I was knocked off the couch, and we immediately laughed because this is probably the dumbest game ever!  But no doubt, we will probably play again soon?

Has anyone ever played this or have any other dumb games that you play with your siblings?

Things that are really funny ...

Glee.  I am officially a Gleek!  I love Glee, it defiently is the highlight of my week; I look forward to Tuesdays because I can watch Glee and laugh my ass off!

My favorite character of Glee is Brittany.  I love her comments.  I used to go to the gym every week to watch Glee, but had to stop because I was laughing to much while I ran on the tredmill.  I don't know if you watch Glee , but I want to share classic Brittany quotes that made me laugh!  Here is some background informtion to the episode: Kurt's dad had a heart attack and Brittany wanted to provide the love and support to Kurt, this is how she  condoled her friend,

Brittany: I did a book report on heart attacks if you wanna give it to the doctor.
It got knocked down a whole grade because I did it in crayon.

Brittany: I made him a card that said 'heart attacks are just from loving too much.

Also Brittany cracks me up on twitter with her tweets. Today being Election Day(hope you voted!), @BritannyGLEE tweeted,

"I refuse to vote because we only have a 2-party system.
Candidates need to throw at least 5 parties before you really know where they stand."

Brittany's funny and random comments make my day and instantly make any day better and FULL of laughter!

My Luck. Usually I am unlucky, but I won something a couple of weeks ago!  What I won is quite funny... I won a pink mini garbage can!  There is this really cool new site, thepinkcart.com, that is Kicking Breast Cancer to the Curb!  WHAT A GREAT AND COOL IDEA! I was their weekly winner on twitter and won their first October giveaway, which was a pink mini garbage can and pink iPod.  When I received the email/tweet at work on Friday, I immediately bursted into laughter!  I never win anything and I am NEVER this lucky!  So if your on twitter follow @thepinkcart!  They are a great organization.

Let Go Laughing

This past weekend was FULL of laughs!  My sister, mother and I flew up to Canada to see family friends, my "Aunt" Patty and her two daughters, Amy and Krissy.  My mother (Patti) and my "Aunt" Patty met each other when they were in their twenties when they were both living in Long Island, New York.  They met each other through their boyfriends.  Ultimately, they both ditched the boys and stayed friends; thirty years later they are still best friends and silly as ever and even created more friendships among their daughters.

My mom and "aunt" are both named Patti/y, but what is even funnier is they both married Mike's and had 2 daughters, all around the same age.  Whenever our family's get together for a night in the city, a vacation to Aruba or the Hamptons, or a trip to Canada, it is ALWAYS a fun time!  Our times spent together is literally laugh, after laugh, after laugh.

We spent this girls weekend at wineries, touring Toronto, watching the Office, watching the Hangover (my Patti's first time!) and when we weren't out doing one of those, we were all huddled up around the kitchen table drinking wine/beer and eating!   We have these silly drinking traditions our moms started when they were young that we, daughters, insist on doing!  We grew up watching them and LOVE when we are together that we can do it with them!  Instead of "cheers"ing our first drink, we say "up yours."  When you are finished with your beer, you don't recycle it (yet) you throw it over the deck and wait to hear it clink with another bottle.

I love when our mother's are together, it's like when both Patti/y's are together they go back in time and relive their youth with us!  This weekend made me thankful for my funny family and friends and  has really ensured me that distance make the heart grow fonder and that you are never too old to have a great time and laugh!

Things that are really funny...

Stick-on Mustaches. My sorority sisters and I had a fiesta night in August.  We each had to bring something.  Brit and I were in charge of getting the margarhita glasses.  We went to Party City on a mission to find the glasses and also get obnoxiously large somberos.  Unfortunately somberos are expensive and were too costly for our budget.  But we did find the glasses and on sale too! We were very excited, as we walked  to the cashier, we came across these stick on mustaches and immediately died in laughter in the store.  What a perfect accessorie to wear at our little fiesta.  We got to our friends house and as soon as the fun was about to begin, Brit and I whipped out our stick on mustaches to surprise our friends.  Everyone was on the floor laughing and we had out own photoshoot in funny settings with these mustaches.  Troogz finally posted the pictures this weekend.  As I saw the pictures on facebook, I could not help but laugh.

I really have the funniest friends who make me laugh... too much!

The Professional Laugher

I have wanted to do this for awhile; I just never have had the courage to do so or what stories I would even share.  I recently became an avid blog reader and have become addicted!  At work we had to compile our goals for the year and I thought I should probably come up with personal goals for myself.  As I created my own personal goals of my dream job, dream husband and family, I thought I should pursue my addiction and create my own blog!  So here I am ... trying to complete a goal in my life.

But now the hard part, what to blog about?  I started to brainstorm what I am good at and what I could share with others.  I am not a star athlete, or a brainiac, I like fashion but I have no advice to share.  As I reflected on my life and what I love to do, it came to me....I love to LAUGH.  Laughing makes everything better. Not only do I love to laugh, but I LOVE to make people LAUGH especially people I love. People tell me I am funny even when I am not trying; I kinda consider myself a professional laugher.  I am pretty good at it, so why not share my laughing stories.  So here I am, Jenna, the professional laugher, at your service!
